About you.
The person we’re looking for has:
- Deep expertise in the WordPress ecosystem, including custom theme and plugin development
- A strong understanding of front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery)
- Proven experience in responsive design and ensuring cross-browser compatibility
- A keen eye for performance and security, with the ability to optimize sites for speed and stability
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently
What you’ll be doing.
In this role, you’ll be:
- Building and maintaining high-performance WordPress websites from the ground up
- Converting design mockups (from Figma or Adobe XD) into functional, pixel-perfect web pages
- Customizing themes and plugins to meet specific project requirements without sacrificing site integrity
- Managing site migrations, backups, and ongoing technical maintenance
- Collaborating with the design team to ensure technical feasibility and optimal user experience
Qualitications.
We’d like to talk to you if:
- You have 5+ years of web development, specifically focused on WordPress
- You’re based in the Ottawa region (this position is in-office only!)
- You have postsecondary education in web development or relevant industry experience
- You’re proficient in PHP, MySQL and Git, and have experience with page builders like Elementor and Gutenberg
- You have a solid understanding of SEO best practices and web accessibility (WCAG) standards
- Agency experience and bilingualism are assets
